I haven't been able to buy the October issue of JELLY yet, but luckily scans are available & since this caught my eye, I couldn't help but share it here~

I'd like to take this moment to express my absolute total love for 本多末奈/Mana Honda~ now that 森摩耶/Maya Mori & 山本優希/Yuuki Yamamoto are preggers/engaged/probably retiring, this girl is definitely my new fave JELLY model ♥

How is everyone?

I've been meaning to blog for days now, but life has been asdfghjkl@#$%&* ALL OVER THE PLACE!! （ｐ>□<ｑ*）） 

This weekend one of my friends celebrated a big birthday so we spent all of Saturday basically partying. I didn't get home til the afternoon yesterday & then spent all day sleeping, haha (v_v) スヤスヤ

But it was nice to hang out & just let our troubles go for a while!

Lately I've been so inspired by 岩田ののか/Iwata Nonoka ♡ I love her simple yet distinctive style & I really admire how she blends monotone with gothic & rock elements. 

I will probably do a full style idol post on her later, but basically my reason for mentioning my love for her is because Saturday's code was inspired by her recent more casual style~ 

Note: In case you have/haven't noticed, my hair got lighter again haahaa!! I've only washed it like 2 times since dyeing it too... I think it'll take a while for me to achieve dark hair again *FAIL*

Taobao one*spo Fakes + (Another!) Giveaway Pimping

This is a little rushed because I'm on my lunch break & I'm a bit stressed with things in life atm, but I figured blogging about happy things would take the edge off a little so HERE GOES!!

After reading about Taobao on the gorgeous Steph's blog & hearing about it over on the ryuukou_style community over on LiveJournal, I decided to try it out for myself. Taobao is basically like mbok or eBay from China~ they have both auctions & buy it now listings for all kinds of things. They have quite a bit of Japanese style clothing & some of the listings claim to be popular 109 brands, but I think they're probably more just inspired by the brands rather than actually from them びゃははは　(≧ω≦)ｂ

 

ALTHOUGH~ I have heard that a couple of shops DO have Chinese stores, like COCOLULU, so it's possible that there are some authentic items on there!

Anyway, in order to buy things from Taobao you have to have an agent aka a shopping service.  I found a website called Taobao Field Guide which directed me to a service called Obook. Let me just say now that they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ♥ Ordering from them was as easy as sending an email with the links to the items I wanted, sending payment through PayPal, & then waiting to get the package!

They're incredibly nice & answer all their emails within 24 hours usually. The only thing that took a while was the actual shipping since it's best to use Air Mail instead of EMS for Taobao, but even that went well~!

So here are my first Taobao spoils~

 

I've been obsessed with this one*spo dress that Natsumi Saito wears like every week, so...

... naturally I had to snag this cute copy~!

The belt is unattached which is why it looks smaller（＾凹＾）

It's basically the same exact dress though~ the only thing that gives it away is this~

 I'm amused that they used a moussy fake tag since the dress is a one*spo copy, haha~

I also picked up another copy of this fabulous one*spo cardi~

The quality of both of these items is actually surprisingly good too~! The belt on the dress is pretty cheaply made & the buttons need to be sewn on a little tighter, but other than that the material is decent & seems like it will hold up in the wash. The cardi is very good quality too, though I just wouldn't put it through the dryer, haha ☆ﾐヾ(#`Д´)

 

Overall I am very pleased with my first 'Taobao spree' though ＼（○＾ω＾○）／ 

I got both of these items from the YAOYAO Shop, in case anyone is curious~ they have a lot of other cute items, including shoes & fake lashes too!

A/W 2010 Hair: Part 1?

( ^-^)ﾉ(* ^-^)ﾉこんばんわぁ♪ 

So I thought I'd fight off the Sunday blues by posting up my new hair~!

 Snapped these last night in a hurry so please to be ignoring my tired face, haha （ー○ー）＝３ ﾊｧ 

I decided to go with this 'deep beige brown' since I've been anxious to dye my hair & didn't want to wait for a salon appointment (￣□￣」)」☆ｏ(＞＜；)○

It didn't turn out exactly like the colour on the box but it's really similar to Mai Miyagi's so I'm happy for now~

& while it's similar to my natural boring super-dark brown/black hair, it has an amazingly rich chocolatey tone to it that is ♥

See the difference?

I'm almost convinced to go ahead & get the subtle blue streaks put in since I've gotten some comments from readers who really liked that style with this colour, so look forward to a possible Part 2 to this, haha~!

How is your weekend going? 

Mine is going really well~! ♥ I finally dyed my hair today... Now it's the same colour as Mai Miyagi's which I blogged about in this post ★＝(−.⌒) I don't have the blue streaks in it though, but I'm still toying with getting bleached blonde highlights so we'll see what happens, haha!

I also received my first Taobao order & the GLAD NEWS dress the lovely Sami of マカロン★dreaming was so kind to trade me for, as well as visited the MAC counter again sooo... It's been a nice weekend!  p(*＾-＾*)q がんばっ♪ 

I promise to post some new hair & shopping photos soon, but now I want to share some of the lovely & sweet things I received from a very dear online friend & a super-special new one yesterday~! ミ☆

I feel so lucky to count the amazingly sweet & adorable Jenny of sushi-cat as one of my dearest online friends~ she's so thoughtful & always has positive & encouraging words for everyone, which is so rare these days ♥

Recently she went to Japan on vacation, & I was so thrilled to find this postcard in my mailbox yesterday evening~

I decided to make these photos bigger than the previous twin code posts because of the awesome detail of this onepiece (& because Sara Mari is amazing with accessorizing & actually challenged me to make a better effort, haha!（≧∇≦）ぶぁっはっはっ！！)

 

I LOVE LOVE how she paired hers with her w♥c leopard tutu skirt & those fabulous Union Jack tights! Those are definitely some MUST GET fall legwear ★＝(−.⌒)

 

I paired mine with the sparkle detail pankinsu from EXPRESS that I posted about previously, & since you can't tell from the photo above, here's a close-up~

We also both decided to use rock-kei accessories & darker eyemake to complete the look. I think it goes well with tutuHA since they're a brand with a heavy rock-kei influence ミ★

American MODE

This week is passing by so fast!! Ｏ(≧▽≦)Ｏ ﾜｰｲ♪

I just realised I haven't updated since Sunday & I've been meaning to do this post for a while, so here goes~!

Today I want to talk about doing mode-kei American style!  ミ★

Before I started to getting into Japanese fashion, I used to shop SO MUCH at EXPRESS. I always liked their on-trend, classy style, but after I discovered the amazingness that is J-fashion I stopped shopping there. That & I started to find them repeating styles season after season, so shopping there became boring（)´д`(）

But then, a little thing called MODE came around this year & I decided to take another look at EXPRESS~

I recently picked out these amazing pieces before going out a few weeks ago & I found they fit perfectly into mode-kei ♥

Paneled or 'moto' pankinsu (aka jeggings (＞＜；)) were first featured in the September issue of JELLY as a rising trend item~

Naturally I was totes excited to see them at EXPRESS & had to grab some for myself~!

 I also picked the floral/watercolour top since I really liked how they paired the pankinsu with a similar type of top as seen on Maiko Takahashi above (which is by EMODA!)~

 I'm not sure if the denim moto jacket is considered mode-kei or not, but it was kind of cold that night haha (●´艸｀)ヾ 

Last weekend I made another trip to EXPRESS on the hunt for these denim pankinsu, which reminded me so much of some recent ones done by EMODA & MURUA~

Notice the similar loose black tops in both styles, haha (⌒▽⌒)ノ＿彡☆バンバン！

They were unfortunately already sold out, but I was able to pick out a different pair & a bonus item as well~

 MODE x MILITARY, ANYONE? 

★'.･.LOVE~(^▽^(^▽^*)~LOVE.･.･:☆ 

 These pankinsu are made of black denim & have awesome shimmery beading accenting one of the moto panels ♥

 I have so much love for military for this coming a/w & this shirt just has so much lovely details!

I think paired with some mode accessories it can really fit into the style easily.

I have to admit that at first I was hesitant to go forward with mode-kei for myself, because it reminded me too much of office lady style, but now I have such an appreciation for it & am having so much fun working it into my wardrobe! ♥

It's also nice that it's a style that can be easily copied using items found in stores here in the US!

I'm hoping this weekend I can finally get out & TAN, since I feel like summer is quickly fading... Next weekend will already be the 'official' last weekend of the summer  (´Д｀。)

IT'S TIME TO TALK ABOUT FALL HAIR~!

This year is the first year in a LONGGG time that I've played with my hair colour, & after trying so many shades until I finally got to my 'perfect' recent one, I'm surprised to find myself wanting to go back to dark hair for the autumn/winter. 

But not just boring black/brown/auburn hair~ I still want to do something dramatic & fun!

Here are some of the options I've been considering~

DARK BROWN WITH PLATINUM STREAKED SIDES

Some people might not be a fan of this look but I think it's such a cool take on two-tone hair. It will fit in well for my personal style plan for this fall too, which is heavily rock-kei influenced. I think even with this cut it's super-cute, but I'm not sure I want to give up my long hair just yet, haha!

HORIZONTAL GRADATION TWO-TONE

I especially like how the top colour is really similar to my natural super-dark brown/black hair so I wouldn't have to worry about root touch-ups so much キャハハ o(>▽▽<)o キャハ

I actually got my current colour/style inspiration from Mai  ♥ I think this style might be just a trick of the lighting in this particular pic though, since her hair just looks brown in the rest of her blog pics, but I love the idea of some blue streaked through a rich brown colour. Subtle & perfect for not scaring away my ultra-conservative boss, haha! (￣▽￣)ノ＿彡☆バンバン！

 

 BLUNT HORIZONTAL TWO-TONE

This was originally the style I wanted to go with for this a/w, but now I'm considering other options (see above  ☆ﾐヾ(#`Д´))

So which style do you like best? 

I'm actually pretty heavily considering Lea's because it's not 'gal' & it's different, but Momoko's is also tempting!
