Style Idol Elin Kling

Thursday, March 31, 2011

It's funny that I've discovered so many great Western fashion bloggers due to the recent boom in J-fashion mags. I actually discovered Elin through Rumi's blog, & I instantly felt a connection to her sense of style. She manages to mix both casual & glamour so effortlessly~ I also love how she hasn't given up her pointy heels in favour of the round-toe styles that are so popular now, haha ♪(゚▽^*)ノ⌒☆

One of my favourite things about Elin too is how she is a genius at accentuating details in her outfits~ whether it's the simple draping of a solid skirt or unexpected zippers & pockets on an otherwise plain pair of trousers, she creates her look around these little surprises, never over or under-doing it.  I've started to look for these kinds of things whenever I go shopping now instead of just picking out pieces based on the obvious or thinking about how I can accessorise to liven something up. It's all about the details of the garments with Elin & I love it

Evidence of Elin's influence in my own style lately soon to come.

New blonde, favourite vacation outfits

I never imagined I would start this newest blog post by saying I got let go from my job yesterday. Before anyone says they're sorry though, I just want to say that it was a bittersweet parting, not negative in the least, & kind of a mutual feeling in a way. I just wasn't happy where I was, & now that I'm fortunate enough to have another chance at finding what it is I really want to do, I'm going to take it.

Reflecting back on the way I've been, I realised I needed to change~ money shouldn't be the only thing that makes you happy. Clearly, it wasn't working that way for me. I figure as long as I have enough to pay my bills & treat myself at least once a month, that is enough for me. I don't need to take a job I will ultimately end up being unhappy at just for the paycheck.

In a way, I feel like it was almost destiny that I went to see Sucker Punch over my vacation with its theme of creating your own reality~

'You have all the weapons you need... Now fight.'

On that note, change has been a big part of my journey lately ❤ I decided to rename the blog to cherri☆pop☆fiction because I wanted something fun that reflected me~ the 'fiction' part was inspired by Namie Amuro's BEST FICTION, haha ( ̄▼ ̄)ノ_彡☆ばんばん!

I've also been on a quest for blonde hair! ♪(゚▽^*)ノ⌒☆ I bought a home bleaching kit that I was going to try last Thursday, but I kept having nightmares of getting bright orange hair or damaging my hair beyond repair, so I ended up just getting a lighter natural blonde shade to colour over my first attempt. I'm actually pretty happy with how it turned out, though I want it a little 'sunnier', if that makes any sense!

Well I have a ton of things I want to accomplish today, so... Expect lots more frequent updates & progress as I move forward ❤ I'm excited about it!

see you~

Finally getting to do my first mukuCHU sponsored post! ♥ I was originally sponsored this pair of lenses back in September, but due to huge supply & demand issues & the fact that mukuCHU is based out of Australia & I am all the way here in the US, these lenses getting to me took a lot longer than usual. Still, I am grateful that they didn't forget about me & are still honouring my sponsorship!
The lenses I received are from the EOS G-series~
The packaging was simple but surprisingly very secure! The lens bottles arrived in absolutely perfect condition.
 Brand: EOS
Diameter: 14.5mm
Water Content: 38%
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Life Span: up to 1 year usage
The first thing I noticed about these lenses when I put them on is that they are EXTREMELY comfortable!  Usually I find circle lenses to be a little harder than normal prescription soft contact lenses, but these were no different than my regular everyday ones in terms of comfort. I also was able to wear these for 8+ hours with only normal eye tiredness towards the end of the day.
1) without flash, 2) with flash
As you can see, these are very rich, very natural-looking lenses. If you're looking for dramatic, noticeable circle lenses, these probably wouldn't be your choice. However, the biggest draw for these besides the amazing comfort level would have to be the enlargement~ they really do give off a gorgeous, large-eyed effect
Again, I am very pleased with this pair of sponsored lenses & the level of customer service provided by mukuCHU ♥ Even more, mukuCHU is currently donating some of their profits to help out the relief effort in Japan~
Lenses for a good cause is an awesome thing~! ミ★

Back In Time

photos from this weekend, taken with iTouch

Trying to get back in the swing of blogging... I have to admit that even when trying to think happy & positive thoughts, it's hard to go on with life as usual. But I feel good that I've donated to the American Red Cross, & am hoping the money everyone has given for aid arrives quickly. Everyone, please give if you can~ every little bit helps ❤

On another note though~ last weekend was lovely enough to wear skirts/dresses without tights underneath & I definitely took advantage!  I'm glad I decided to keep my w♥c maxi dress from last year since I've discovered tons of ways to dress it up.

Second outfit was totally inspired by this one Momoko wore not too long ago, just reversing the colours~

I'm so happy spring is finally starting to show itself. It's supposed to be 76ºF here tomorrow~!

 see you~

I know a lot of us in the blogging world feel like our lives are so insignificant after the events of last Friday & don't have the energy to write, but we should remember the power of positivity ♡ A smile in times of sadness can be a beautiful & healing thing.

★ Low brand (Restricted), Jessica Simpson, Dolce Vita, JC ♥
☆ Free People ankle socks
★ Target sheer tights (thanks, Jenny! ♪(゚▽^*)ノ⌒☆)
So like any good striptease, it starts with the slow reveal haha... I decided to start planning my spring wardrobe from the bottom up this year ヘ( ̄ー ̄)ノニヤリズムッ♪ I can't wait til this sucky weather clears up so I can start playing with these.
I'm thinking denim cut-offs & various flowy girly bottoms ♥ More spring preview to come later~

A few weeks ago I received my very first pair of sponsored lenses from Singapore-based lens shop Shoppingholics ♡ The lenses they chose to gift me with were the GEO Angel series in Brown, which are my second pair of GEO lenses.
I was extremely pleased with how well the lenses were packaged & I loved the little thank you note they included as well \(○^ω^○)/ Presentation is everything for me & they really won me over with theirs!
 Brand: GEO Medical
Diameter: 14.0mm
Water Content: 38%
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Life Span: 1 year disposal

I was really glad to receive this particular pair of lenses since I can never get tired of brown lenses. I feel like they look the best & most natural on me, & these were no exception. Being that I had already tried GEO lenses & didn't find them to be that comfortable, I was a little worried how these would turn out, but I was able to wear them for 8+ hours with only minimal drying by the end of the day. A big improvement over my first pair of GEO lenses!
 1) without flash, 2) with flash

The thick black outer ring really adds a dolly effect to these lenses, which I love ♡ You can also see the brown colour is more dramatic with flash, but a lot more natural in regular lighting. The enlarging effect is also pretty natural too~ no alien eyes here, haha!
Overall, I am super-pleased with these lenses & with my sponsorship with Shoppingholics! I would definitely recommend them for your lens needs, as they stock several brands of circle lenses & cosmetic products such as Melliesh, Dolly Wink, Diamond Lash & Skin79.
They also have a bunch of great promotions going on, including this one~
Please go & support this wonderful little webshop~!

Basically a post to let everyone know I am still alive & that this blog is NOT going to become inactive any time soon! m(。−_−。)m I have lots of things to blog about, so hopefully this week will be full of updates~ as long as life decides to leave me alone for a few minutes so I can get it all down, haha!

Had to share this gorgeous spread of my #1 personal idol ever 安室奈美恵/Namie Amuro from the April issue of ViVi ♡ I'm not naive enough to think that there was no airbrushing, but it always amazes me how flawless & YOUNG she continues to look!

One kid & 33 years later, I wanna look this good too~! (T▽T)ノ_彡☆ばんばん!

see you (soon)~
