Evolution 2011

Saturday, December 31, 2011

What an amazing year. Looking back at these, the first thing that pops into my head is WAO, LOOK AT ALL THE COLOURS OF MY HAIR ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽ But aside from that, it's so interesting to see how my wardrobe & overall style has fluctuated this year... I tried a lot of new things, developed an obsessiveextreme love for standout pieces & apparently have decided to stick to the side-part.

Who knows what 2012 will bring (hopefully not the end of the world, hahaha), but I'm more than ready for it... & I'm so glad that those of you who have stuck around (& those of you who are new around here too!) are here to brave it with me.
Je t'aime plus que les mots peuvent exprimer ♡♡♡

Royal Flush

I'm not going to bother reposting my Christmas hauls since I basically already put them up on instagram here & here, but I wanted to share one of the amazing beauty products I got. Most of my gifts were actually beauty/skincare related, which is exactly what I wanted, but that's another conversation for another day... blahdeblah...

Ok, the NARS Multiple in G-Spot was one of the top things on my wish list, so you can imagine how stoked I was to find it under my tree! There are 13 total shades of the Multiple, but G-Spot is the new one specially designed for the NARS Holiday 2011 collection. The product is nice & big, worth the 39$ price tag & the colour is a gorgeous, slightly shimmery dark rose. I realise now I should have taken a photo sans the cap to show the colour, but I used it on my cheeks & lips so you can kind of get a feel for it there. It basically matches my huge burgundy tassel earrings, haha ♥ One tip though: it's easy to go really dramatic with this colour since it goes on dark, but you can easily blend it for day or leave it darker for a more dramatic night/party look.  It's also a surprisingly flattering shade that I think would look good on nearly all skin tones.

Excited to try the Copacabana Multiple today!

EXPRESS shirt, Topshop crop top + used faux leather pants

Kind of recent, from Xmas Eve... This Topshop crop was one of my favourite pieces from this summer that I'd been wondering how to winterise... thanks to Momoko Ogihara for inspiring this outfit

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday & looking forward to posting (& seeing!) all the hauls soon, haha! ༼☁ɷ☁༽

see you~

Beauty Shop

Currently obsessed with digital magazine Because London's super-rad makeup tutorials ♥ They're all fairly short, shot with a great stark white bg that really helps to see what the artist is doing & have a lovely tracklist. My favorites of the moment are Caroline's Rio Glow, Susie Says 'Panda Eyes' & Erin's Tomato Red Pout. All perfect holiday looks. Another bonus of these is that all the products used in the videos are listed/pictured, with clickable links so you can buybuybuy! Check it out.

ASOS dress, Motel coat + eBay-ed shades

Winter, where are you?? I never thought I would say this, but I am ready for freezing cold temps, scraping ice & snow off my car & filling up on hot cocoa. Piled high with marshmallows, of course.

I guess for now I can enjoy going around tights-less for the time being though. & the looks on people's faces when they see me wearing this extra-fluffy furry coat when it's 60° outside.

see you~

UNGRID S/S 2012 + BRAND INTRO

Thursday, December 22, 2011

UNGRID producer Reika Yoshida

UNGRID is a gal brand that premiered in September & is the brainchild of 24-year-old producer Reika Yoshida. I meant to blog about it way back when, but the initial a/w 11 collection didn't really impress me. It seemed to be a mash-up of Ank Rouge with some LagunaMoon thrown in... pretty much recycled. Also, the concept of 'American Casual,' which seems like it's been the concept of every brand I can think of at one point this year, turned me off too. Nothing really separated UNGRID from the others. The minimal buzz in the gal mags only seemed to prove my feelings right as well.

But then Reika traveled to India & came back with the s/s 12 collection, which walked at the same MARK STYLER show as MURUA, EMODA & the other brands under the umbrella...

I literally could have posted the entire collection, but I decided to take just these details + that crazy tour-de-force end piece. Yes, the native vibe has been done before, but Reika's love of vintage & 'American casual' (which you can see in the use of the denim pieces) takes it to a whole other level. I love her choice of fabrics, from drapey jersey & fringe to flannel & knits, & of course her use of accessories. The studded/patched denim is a must too.

Also had to show Reika's look from the day of the show ♥ I could totally see this walking, with different shoes of course. But she does an amazing job of representing her brand, which is evident in her blog too. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
